Blogging Success: Learn From The Pros

I am always on the look out for helpful tips and insights on how to become better at what I do.  It doesn’t matter if it is something I have been doing for long time and I feel like ‘I get it’ or whether it is something I am just starting to undertake.  There is always someone out there that knows more, or just different things, than you.

Today I came across 2 great blog posts that I think everyone who is blogging, or is thinking about starting a blog, should read.  In these you have tips on the vital mix of content and design for a successful blog.

This first one is by Darren Rowse over at ProBlogger and talks about how you can start thinking like a blogger.  This was a great read for me.  Darren talks about going from newbie blogger to pro blogger and the steps he took to get there.  It is always helpful to hear from a successful blogger such as Darren that he didn’t start out the blogging guru that he is.  One of the great tips that Darren mentions is hanging out with and learning from the people that you want to be more like - in this case other bloggers.  This probably isn’t the first time that you have heard this piece of advice.  I know it isn’t for me.  What strikes me about it is the fact that I have heard it so often and how it can apply to almost anything in life you want to be successful at.  Surround yourself with the people and ideas that you want to emulate to achieve success.

The second post that I recommend for today is also over at ProBlogger, but is actually a post by Ben Yoskovitz of Instigator Blog.  This post is about the 7 steps that Ben took to redesign his blog site.  I talk a lot about the quality of your content and here is a great look at how to have quality in your blog design.  While the post covers a redesign, there is a lot you can take from it even if you are starting from scratch.  By reading the section on what he calls ‘deeper structural issues’ you can see the amount of thought that goes into a successful design.

Happy reading!
