Get Someone Else To Write Your Newsletters For Free

Some of the content marketing that we do includes the use of newsletters.  We have one geared toward small businesses and one for real estate agents.  Both groups are in our target markets for our virtual telecommunications services.  Newsletters are a good way of getting your message in front of people for a number of reasons.  Here are 6 of them:

  • They can be double opt in so they are not seen as spam coming into the person’s mailbox.
  • Your readers are very targeted.  If someone has signed up for your newsletter you know they are in your target market.
  • You can establish yourself as an expert or source of information for those in your market.
  • It gives you a chance to get your brand in front of your readers every time they read the newsletter.
  • By continuing your newsletter on your website, you encourage people to visit you where you live.
  • Again by having your newsletter content also reside on your website, you are constantly adding new content every time you publish a new edition of your newsletter.  This tells the search engines that you are a site that should be indexed frequently because you are continually adding new, relevant content.

Some small businesses avoid using newsletters because they don’t want to come up with the content for them.  They either feel that they don’t have the talent or the time.  In our situation, we didn’t think we had the time with the load of content that we were already producing.  So, that is why we looked for other people who might want to do it for us.

I’m not talking about hiring freelance writers here.  We didn’t have the budget for that.  What we did was look to people that were experts in their fields (in our case small business and real estate) that were already producing content that would fit nicely with our newsletter goals.  A few key words in that last sentence were ‘already producing content’.  If the person is going to write content specifically for your newsletter they are going to expect to be compensated, and rightfully so.  However, if the content that you are using has been previously produced and you are simply giving it new life in your newsletter, they are most likely not going to expect payment.  In approaching these experts you can make it clear to them that it is a win - win situation.

You get free quality content that is helpful and relevant to your readers and the experts get free exposure/advertising to consumers that they may not have reached otherwise.  Win - Win.
